14-year old student fatally stabbed by classmate inside Parañaque City school

A 14-year-old female student in Parañaque City was stabbed to death by her male classmate inside their school.

According to a 24 Oras report by Maki Pulido on Thursday, the incident occurred during class hours at around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said prior to the incident, the victim, a Grade 8 student, informed a teacher that the 14-year old suspect brought a knife to school and threatened to stab her.

“[Sa] isa pong teacher doon lumapit po sa kaniya yung biktima, kasi sinasabi ng biktima yung classmate nila may dalang kutsilyo tapos pinagbabantaan siya na sasaksakin… Kinuha [ng suspect] yung kutsilyo na nasa bag [pagpasok ng biktima at teacher sa room], doon na po sinaksak yung biktima. Apat po yung saksak na natamo ng biktima. Halos lahat po sa parting dibdib,” said Parañaque Police Assistant Chief of Police for Administration Police Lieutenant Colonel Llamas Angustia.

(The victim approached one of the teachers, and she said one of her classmates brought a knife and was threatening to stab her… [The suspect] took the knife from his bag [when the teacher and the victim entered the room], and stabbed her several times. The victim sustained four stab wounds, almost all of them in the chest area.)

Despite her injuries, the victim was able to run away, but the suspect continued to chase her before security guards arrived and intervened.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The victim's mother claimed her daughter earlier warned her about the death threats she was receiving from the suspect, who she said was bullying her.

“Ang sabi niya po sa akin, ‘Mama, sasaksakin ako ng bakla. Binubully-bully po ako, Mama. Marami po kaming magkaka classmate. Mama, papatayin niya ba ako?’” said the victim’s mother.

(She told me, ‘Mama, a gay person threatend to stab me. I am being bullied, Mama. There are a lot of us classmates. Mama, is he going to kill me?’)

“Anong nangyari sa anak ko? Wala namang kapalit sa tindahan ang buhay ng anak ko. Bakit ganoong kadali, pinabayaan niyo?” she added.

(What happened to my daughter? There is nothing to replace her life. Why was it that easy for this to happen, you failed to take care of her?)

Meanwhile, police said the suspect claimed he was the one being bullied by the victim.

“Binubully daw sa school. Kasama daw po yung biktima na nambubully sa kaniya, Kaya niya nagawa yung ganoong krimen,” said Angustia.

(He said he was being bullied in school. The victim was allegedly one of the bullies, which was why he committed the crime.)

“Dala niya ang kutsilyo. May intensyon talaga siyang gamitin ang kutsilyo at manakit ng tao,” he added.

(He brought the knife. He really had an intention to use the knife and hurt somebody.)

The underaged suspect is currently in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), while his family is yet to issue a comment.

The school is currently conducting online classes after the incident and has yet to give its side on the incident. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
