DOTr asks MRT-3 to extend evening ops by an hour

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon on Monday called on the management of Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) to extend its evening operations by an hour.
According to the DOTr in a statement, Dizon made the request after inspecting the light rail system in the morning.
“The transport chief likewise directed the MRT-3 to deploy additional trains during peak hours,” it added.
Currently, regular hours on MRT-3 has the first train leaving the North Ave station at 4:36 a.m. on weekdays, 4:37 a.m. on Saturdays, and 4:38 a.m. on Sundays.
The last train from North Avenue leaves at 9:30 p.m. on all days of the week.
Dizon earlier expressed willingness to extend the operating hours of the MRT-3 and the Light Rail Transit systems to improve commuter experience. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA Integrated News
