DOH offers free screening, health services for 'World TB Day' in Caloocan

The Department of Health (DOH), in partnership with the Caloocan City Government and other organizations, launched a health and wellness event offering free TB screening and diagnosis ahead of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24.

The initiative was held at the Caloocan Sports Complex in North Caloocan and aims to promote early detection and treatment of TB while raising awareness about its health and economic impact.

Apart from TB testing, attendees also have access to additional health services, including:

  • HIV testing and screening – A key initiative to promote awareness and prevention.
  • Risk assessment for hypertension and diabetes – Encouraging early detection of other serious health conditions.
  • Health educational sessions – Experts are leading discussions on TB prevention, treatment, and recovery, as well as the effects of tobacco and vaping on lung health.

By providing accessible screening and treatment, the DOH hopes to encourage more Filipinos to take proactive steps in protecting themselves against TB and other communicable diseases. —Sherylin Untalan/ VAL, GMA Integrated News
