Man shot dead in Pasig

A 31-year old man was shot dead by a still-unidentified suspect in Barangay Kalawaan, Pasig City on Thursday night.

The victim, who was still wearing headphones while sitting on a parked motorcycle, was dead on the spot after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

A resident living near the crime scene, who refused to be named, recalled hearing consecutive gunshots.

The victim, she noted, is a friend of her brother.

“Pinapasok ko lang ‘yung mga lumabas kong kapatid kasi natakot din ako baka mamaya mabaril din. Ganun. Baka bumalik,” she added.

(I had my other siblings go back inside, because I got scared. They might get shot too if the gunman came back.)

Initial police investigation revealed the victim was in a heated confrontation with the suspect before the shooting incident.

“‘Yung ating biktima ay may kausap na isang lalaki. Sa katagalan, bigla na lang may narinig na pagtatalo. Pagtapos ng pagtatalo, bumunot ‘yung suspek natin ng baril. Pinutukan ang ating victim,” said San Joaquin Police Substation Commander PCpt. Gilbert Bruan.

(The victim was talking to another man. Later on, they were heard arguing and after that, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot towards the victim.)

Barangay Kalawaan Security Force Officer Francis Sulayao said they’re not aware of any person who may have been in conflict with the victim.

“Matagal nang taga-rito iyan sa Kalawaan…Wala naman. Wala naman nakakaaway,” he added.

(He’s been living in Kalawaan for a long time…None. He doesn’t have enemies here.)

Sulayao, who was among the first responders in the crime scene, also noted that no one has so far claimed the motorcycle where the victim was found dead.

“Hindi po namin alam. Wala pang nakakapagsabi kung kaninong motor ‘yung ano eh. Wala pang umaamin eh,” he added.

(We don’t know. No one has informed us about who owns the motor. No one has claimed it.)

Police also said the motorcycle isn’t owned by the victim.

The investigation to pin down the suspect and determine the motive of the crime is underway. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
