Busway operational as EDSA rehab to begin end of March - DPWH

Busway operational as EDSA rehab to begin end of March - DPWH

The Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region on Tuesday said that the EDSA Busway will still be operational while the major thoroughfare is under rehabilitation.

The EDSA Busway, which is reserved for buses, vehicles carrying the top five government officials, and vehicles responding to emergencies, runs from Monumento in Caloocan City to Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange.

The rehabilitation works, according to the government, are part of the country's hosting preparations for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit next year.

''The DPWH-NCR assures that the EDSA bus carousel will remain operational; however, it will be temporarily relocated to its adjacent lane while EDSA bus stations remain open for the commuters,'' the DPWH-NCR said in a statement.

''Once the closed segments from the first lane are fully rehabilitated, the EDSA bus lane will move back to its original lane to accommodate its regular operations,'' it added.

By the end of March, DPWH-NCR said one segment of the rehabilitation will start in the northbound portion from the Quezon City/Caloocan boundary to Monumento.

“Following the anticipated major rehabilitation and upgrading of EDSA, the DPWH-NCR is actively preparing to implement the rehabilitation works by segments, one lane at a time, starting from the EDSA bus lane,” it said. — Joviland Rita/VBL, GMA Integrated News
