MRT-3 train operation stalls for a few hours
A Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) northbound train ceased operations for a few hours on Monday noon.
According to a report in “24 Oras”, passengers tried to open the windows of the train after it lost power near Santolan-Annapolis Station.
The report added that the passengers smelled smoke and heard what sounded like blasts two times.
But prior to that, the train already experienced a mishap at Shaw Boulevard Station after it suddenly stopped causing the standing passengers to lose balance.
The MRT-3 management apologized for the inconvenience.
“The leading car of a train set bound for Cubao Station experienced a loss of traction at around 12 noon today,” the advisory read.
“The train has been successfully hauled to Santolan Station and will undergo further checking at the depot. Affected passengers have also been safely transferred to the next train,” it added.
