Marikina City launches 'Car-Free Sundays'

Marikina City on Sunday launched its Car-Free Sundays for the benefit of its residents.
Mayor Marcy Teodoro and Rep. Maan Teodoro led the inauguration of Car-Free Sundays where the portion of Gil Fernando Ave. Extension in Barangay Sto. Niño along with a muralat Bayan-Bayanan Access Road to commemorate the event.
The Car-Free Sundays will be from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the aforementioned portion of Gil Fernando Ave. and aims to create additional spaces where the public can engage in recreational and healthy activities such as cycling, walking, jogging and calisthenics.
The new mural will showcase the notable places, character, personalities of Marikina’s history thru the works of artists based in the city.
Also nearby the area are restaurants and eating establishments for those taking part in Car-Free Sundays and visitors of the mural. — RF, GMA Integrated News
