BI nabs 2 Chinese fugitives bound for Malaysia
The Bureau of Immigration nabbed two Chinese fugitives on their way to Malaysia at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on February 15 and 16.
According to a statement on Thursday, the fugitives were found to be undesirable aliens, the subject of watchlist orders due to criminal cases in China.
Based on BI records, 37-year-old Chinese Huang Xianjun, who was stopped on February 15, was found with a warrant of arrest for telecommunications fraud.
He was allegedly a member of a syndicate that conducted love scams to induce fraudulent investments.
The second passenger, 23-year-old Li Xiao Long, was intercepted on February 16 and also had an active warrant for economic crimes.
He was also revealed to have previously been employed at a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) company in Manila, had his working visa revoked, and had been included on the BI watchlist.
The two suspects are being held at the BI custodial facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation procedures. — Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/BM, GMA Integrated News
