8 killed after fire hits QC rental house


Eight people were killed after a fire broke out in a rental house in Barangay San Isidro in Quezon City early Thursday morning, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The BFP said that of the total fatalities, three were minors aged two, 12, and 15.

One person also sustained a wound during the fire.

The BFP said the fire in the three-storey building reached the first alarm at 2:02 a.m.

A total of 24 fire trucks and three ambulances responded. 

GMA Integrated News’ James Agustin reported on Unang Balita that some of the residents had to climb over and walk across the roof to escape the fire. They said the blaze was already huge when they woke up.

The fire was declared out at 2:48 a.m.

Responders found two bodies on the first floor near the stairs. The fatalities have yet to be identified.

According to the BFP, the estimated cost of damage due to the fire is around P3,600,000.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

Authorities have also yet to provide information on the number of affected residents.
