Man nabbed for string of convenience store heists in Caloocan, QC

A man was nabbed in Baclaran after he allegedly conducted a string of robberies at three convenience stores in Caloocan and Quezon City.

According to a 24 Oras report by Marisol Abdurahman Tuesday, the suspect conducted his first robbery at a convenience store in Caloocan City at around 11:30 p.m. Friday

CCTV footage showed the suspect, wearing a face mask, brown hoodie and shorts, pointing a gun at a cashier and escaping after taking the money from the cash register.

After more than an hour, CCTV footage from another convenience store in Quezon City showed the same suspect holding a man at gunpoint in a robbery.

After another hour, he was seen robbing the day’s earnings of another convenience store in Caloocan.

“Pinapasok n’ya [‘yung mga convenience stores] tinututukan niya yung cashier. Doon, nililimas na niya mga benta ng convenience store na ito. Tinatry niya na pabuksan yung mga vault pero hanggang sa kaha lang ang kanyang nakukuha,” said Caloocan Police chief Colonel Edcille Canals.

(He enters [convenience stores], threatens the cashier with hus gun. That is when he clears out the sales of the convenience store. He also tried to open the vaults but he was only able to take cash from the registers.)

At around 5 a.m. on Saturday morning, he was also seen robbing a couple walking at a street in Quezon City.

“Nadaanan lang. Gunpoint tinutukan, kinuha yung bag na naglalaman ng importanteng dokumento tsaka pera,” Canals added.

(He just passed by them. He held them at gunpoint and took a bag that had important documents and money.)

The suspect was identified as a suspect who held up convenience stores. He was later nabbed in Baclaran while in possession of a hand grenade.

He was found to have prior cases of robberies in the towns of San Jose Del Monte and Marilao in Bulacan, He is also tagged as a member of a carnapping and robbery group. The suspect was said to have been detained in 2024 for robbery.

“Nahulihan siya ng granada during our follow-up operation. May baril. Naitago na niya. Hindi na natin na recover yung baril,” Canals said.

(He was arrested with a grenade during our follow-up operation. He had a gun but he was able to hide it. We weren’t able to recover the weapon.)

Meanwhile, the suspect denied the allegations and said that he was not the man in the CCTV footage.

“Hindi naman po ako yun eh, dahil nasa Baclaran po ako. Nagta-trabaho po ako,” he said.

(That’s not me, because I was in Baclaran. I was working.)
