NBI summons DJ Jellie Aw's fiancé over alleged assault

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said Monday it has issued a subpoena against the fiancé of vlogger and disk jockey Jellie Aw over allegations that he assaulted her.

"Nagpadala na tayo ng subpoena. Na-receive na ng bata. At pinapapunta namin siya dito. Inimbitahan namin siya dumating dito sa Huwebes," NBI Director Jaime Santiago said in a press conference.

(We have transmitted a subpoena. The suspect has received it. And we asked him to go here. We invited him to come here on Thursday.)

"Kung hindi siya darating ng Huwebes, we will proceed with our investigation and file the appropriate cases against him," he added.

(If he fails to come on Thursday, we will proceed with our investigation and file the appropriate cases against him.)

Santiago earlier said the bureau was pursuing the fiancé regarding the incident.

Last Thursday, Jellie Aw lodged a complaint with the NBI against her fiancé for alleged abuse after a photo of her bloodied and bruised face went viral online.

She said Friday she was willing to forgive him, but he must still be held accountable.

"Kaya ko po siyang patawarin pero gusto ko po pagbayaran niya 'yung ginawa sa akin para hindi na niya magawa sa mga ibang babae pa," she said in John Consulta's report on 24 Oras.

(I can forgive him but I want him to be held accountable for what he has done to me, so he would not do it again to other women.)

Jellie Aw recalled that the abuse happened while they were on the expressway last Wednesday.

She said her fiancé pulled her hair while he was driving. He allegedly punched her that caused a blood clot on her eye. The physical assault also left her with a chipped tooth and bruised upper lip.

"Sobrang seloso po kasi, parang maliit na bagay po pinagseselosan niya (He is a very jealous person even with petty things)," she said.

"Buti na lang po pagdating po namin ng Angeles, Pampanga, 'di po umangat 'yung boom kaya 'yun na po 'yung chance ko para makahingi ng tulong… After po nu'n, nakita ko siya tumatakbo tapos may mga bus po kasi, sumakay po siya sa bus," she added.

(When we reached Angeles, Pampanga, it was a good thing that the barrier did not rise, so I had an opportunity to ask for help. After that, I saw him running away and took a ride on a bus.) — VDV, GMA Integrated News
