LTO files cases vs. rider who hit traffic enforcer in Antipolo

LTO files cases vs. rider who hit traffic enforcer in Antipolo

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has filed cases against a motorcycle rider who hit their enforcer while trying to escape after being flagged down for road safety violations along Marcos Highway, Antipolo City.

In a statement on Wednesday, the LTO said the suspect is now facing charges for violations of Republic Act 4136 or Resistance and Disobedience to Person in Authority and Section 11 of RA 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

The rider was flagged in front of St. Anthony Parish Church for not wearing a helmet. Instead of stopping, the rider allegedly tried to evade the traffic enforcer and attempted to make a fast U-turn, which caused him to crash into the enforcer.

The rider was arrested and brought to the police station with his motorcycle. Plastic sachets containing illegal drugs were allegedly found in his possession.

“Kasama sa itinuturo bilang requirement sa pagkuha ng lisensya ay ang respeto sa mga nagpapatupad ng batas. Maliwanag na pambabastos ang ginawa ng rider na ito kaya talagang tututukan ko ang kasong ito para matiyak na maturuan siya ng leksyon,” said LTO chief  Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza.

(Included in the mandated requirements to obtain a license is respect for traffic enforcers. What the rider did is clear disrespect, so we will be following this case to ensure that he will be taught a lesson.) —Jiselle Casucian/AOL, GMA Integrated News
