Woman collecting rent stabbed to death by irked tenant in Rizal

A woman was stabbed to death by a tenant who got infuriated after the victim allegedly humiliated him over unpaid dues in Antipolo, Rizal.

A report by EJ Gomez on Unang Balita on Wednesday showed a video where some individuals can be heard quarrelling over rental dues.

The victim was collecting the dues of the male suspect, who in turn confronted the woman.

A few moments later, the suspect kicked through the door of the victim's house and stabbed her.

“Actually, tenant 'yung suspect po natin. At 'yung victim niya ay 'yung kapatid naman, nu’ng may-ari ng property. So, ayon sa kanya, 'yung dignity niya is natatapakan tuwing sinisingil sila. Siyempre, sinisingil sila. According sa suspect ay binungangaan at dumating na 'yung sukdulan ba noong nakainom siya, nagkalakas siya ng loob sana na i-confront 'yung biktima,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Manongdo, chief of Antipolo Component City Police Station.

(Our suspect is a tenant. His victim was a woman, who was the sister of the owner of the property. The suspect said his dignity was trampled every time the victim shouts at them to get their payment. According to the suspect, the victim had been nagging them until he was filled with anger. When he was drunk, he had the courage to confront the victim.)

Investigation showed the victim suffered one stab wound to the chest. She was taken to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police recovered the knife used by the suspect.

The suspect, 36-year-old alias “Jes,” confessed to the crime.

He said the victim charged them P5,000 for two months of rent at their unit.

He said he was overcome with rage because of the alleged humiliation the victim caused him.

"Pinagmumura niya kasi kami tapos pinapahiya kami sa labas. Hindi ko na kinaya... Nabastusan ako nang sobra. Grabe kasi 'yun sumigaw. Hinabaan ko naman po 'yung pasensiya ako kaso dumating sa puntong napuno rin ako. Tao lang po ako eh. Blackout po ako ma'am. Lasing na lasing ako eh," said alias "Jes."

(She cursed at us and humiliated us outside. I could not take it anymore... She insulted me so much. She yelled so loudly. I held my patience but it got to the point I could no longer take it. I'm only human. I blacked out. I was drunk.)

The suspect is now under the custody of the Antipolo Police, and is facing murder charges.
