Rep. Ralph Tulfo apologizes for EDSA busway use

Quezon City Representative Ralph Wendel Tulfo has issued an apology over his illegal use of the EDSA busway.

"Lubos po akong humihingi ng paumainhin sa publiko, lalo na sa mga naapektuhan at naabala ng insidente kamakailan kaugnay sa pagdaan ng aking sasakyan sa EDSA bus lane," said Tulfo, son of Senator Raffy Tulfo, in a social media post.

He said he acknowledged his violation and accepted the penalties, adding there was never any namedropping of politicians or an attempt to squeeze his way out of the mess.

"Nabayaran na po ang mga kaukulang multa at sasailalim sa kinakailangang seminar upang higit na maunawaan at maipaalala ang umiiral na batas trapiko," the congressman said.

"Nangangako po akong gagawin ko ang lahat ng hakbang upang maiwasan ang ganitong uri ng pagkakamali sa hinaharap," he added.

The Department of Transportation’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT) earlier reported that a convoy linked to a lawmaker was apprehended on January 23 for unauthorized use of the EDSA Busway.

The SAICT did not identify the lawmaker.

Senator Raffy Tulfo revealed on Tuesday that he reprimanded his son for violating traffic rules after his convoy was caught using the EDSA Busway.

"Pinagalitan ko at nag-sorry siya sa akin. Ang sabi ko, 'Mag-apologize ka sa lahat.' And that’s it," the senator said during an ambush interview.

(I scolded him, and he apologized to me. I told him to apologize to everyone, and that’s it.)
