Garbage collector run over, killed by trailer truck

A garbage collector lost his life after being run over by a trailer truck in Tondo, Manila.

According to an exclusive report by Oscar Oida on 24 Oras Weekend on Sunday, CCTV footage captured the incident in Barangay 105.

The victim fell from the side of a dump truck while collecting garbage and was subsequently run over by a passing trailer truck.

The victim's wife, Josephine Martinez Porcadilla, said the trailer truck initially stopped after hitting her husband but then drove off without offering assistance.

Barangay Captain Elenita Reyes expressed her dismay, stating that while the incident appeared to be accidental, the trailer truck driver should have stopped to help, which could have saved the victim’s life.

Authorities are confident they can quickly identify the driver, as the CCTV footage captured the trailer truck’s details. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/DVM, GMA Integrated News
