QC suspends F2F classes, gov't work on Jan. 13 for INC rally

The Quezon City government announced the suspension of face-to-face classes from public daycare to senior high, as well as Alternative Learning Systems (ALS) on Monday, January 13 for the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) peace rally.

It also declared suspension of work in government offices, but not including health services, disaster response, law and order, and essential services within the city.

“Ito’y bilang pakikiisa sa idaraos na National Rally for Peace na pinangungunahan ng Iglesia ni Cristo, na ang pangunahing sambahan na Templo Central at karamihan ng mga miyembro ay nasa Lungsod Quezon,” the statement read.

Quezon City said that public schools are expected to continue school work through alternative delivery systems.

“Ipinauubaya naman sa private schools at private companies ang pagpapasya sa pagsuspinde ng kanilang operasyon,” the statement added.

(We will leave it to the private schools and private companies to decide whether they will suspend their operations.)

Earlier in the day, Malacañang announced the suspension of government offices and classes at all levels in the cities of Pasay and Manila on January 13.

Memorandum Circular No.76, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, stated that the suspension was in view of the numerous participants and attendees of the ''National Rally for Peace'' and to allow the organized conduct of the event.

The suspension of classes is for both private and public schools, the Office of the Executive Secretary said.

Last December 4, the religious group announced that they would hold a rally where they would express support for President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s stance against impeachment moves.

To recall, Marcos earlier said he is not supportive of any impeachment plan against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Duterte is currently facing three impeachment complaints.
