Palace suspends gov't work, classes in Manila, Pasay on Jan. 13 for INC event
Malacañang on Friday announced the suspension of government offices and classes in all levels in the cities of Pasay and Manila on January 13, 2025 for the Iglesia Ni Cristo's National Rally for Peace.
Memorandum Circular No.76, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, stated that the suspension was in view of the numerous participants and attendees of the ''National Rally for Peace'' and to allow the organized conduct of the event.
The suspension of classes is for both private and public schools, the Office of the Executive Secretary said.
"Those agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services," MC No. 76 read.
"suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads," it added.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) earlier also announced the closure of roads near Quirino Grandstand because of the event.
Last December 4, the religious group announced that they will hold a rally where they will express support for President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s stance against impeachment moves.
To recall, Marcos earlier said he is not supportive of any impeachment plan against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Duterte is currently facing three impeachment complaints.
The Vice President earlier welcomed the filing of impeachment complaints against her. She said her critics have been saying that they will be filing the complaint against her since 2023.
