Over 8 million devotees join Traslacion 2025

There were more than 8 million devotees of Jesus Nazareno, who participated in one of the longest processions in recent memory.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported as of 1:29 a.m. on Friday that a cumulative estimate of 8,093,850 people attended the procession that brought the miraculous image of Jesus Nazareno from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo church.

The total was based on three areas that were monitored, namely: Quirino (1,264,790), Quiapo (6,442,050), and the procession (387,010).

The figures posted by Quiapo church officials showed a tital count of 8,124,050.

At the grandstand, there were 1,290,590 and 387,010 Central while at the shrine the crowd reached 6,446,450.

There were 112 medical personnel at the grandstand, 93 Central and 538 at the shrine.

The annual procession was also one of the longest in the last few years as it lasted for 20 hours, 45 minutes, and four seconds, according to Quiapo church officials.

The procession started at 4:41 a.m. on Thursday and ended at 1:26 a.m. early Friday morning.

It was in January 2017 that the foot procession attracted more than 1.4 million devotees and lasted for 22 hours and 19 minutes.

The Traslacion is the re-enactment of the transfer of the image from Intramuros to the Quiapo Church in 1787. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
