Neri Naig arraignment for syndicated estafa case postponed anew

The arraignment of actress and social media personality Neri Naig for syndicated estafa before a Pasay City Regional Trial Court was once more postponed on Thursday, January 9.

In Saleema Refran’s report in 24 Oras, Naig’s legal team said the arraignment was postponed anew due to a pending motion.

Naig was accompanied by her husband Chito Miranda. She and her lawyers declined to give a comment.

The arraignment was originally scheduled last December 3, 2024, but it did not push through as Pasay City RTC Branch 112 was still waiting for comment from the prosecutor after the actress' camp filed a motion to quash.

Prosecutor General Richard Fadullion said the hearing on the syndicate estafa charges against Naig will be brought before the Department of Justice.

The celebrity was arrested in November last year following cases filed by investors of the skincare company Dermacare.

But she was ordered released by the Pasay court  due to a procedural defect in the service of process.

Meanwhile, Naig’s co-accused, actress Rufa Mae Quinto, was released earlier in the day after posting bail.

For their part, the camp of the complainants welcomed the recent developments on the two accused personalities.

“They are availing the remedies, karapatan naman po nila yun. But still, the facts remain na may mga private complainants,” said Robert Labe, legal counsel of the complainants.
