Over 400 devotees seek medical help so far amid Traslacion 2025
The Philippine Red Cross has provided medical assistance to 401 devotees during the ongoing Traslacion in Manila on Thursday.
In its 1 p.m. update, the Philippine Red Cross said of the total patients, 15 have been hospitalized due to nausea, chest pain, deviated nose, dislocated shoulder, nose bleeding, pain on left ankle, difficulty of breathing, chills, and back pain.
A total of 215 devotees complained of minor concerns such as abrasion, puncture, neck pain, avulsion, burn, hyperacidity, dizziness, laceration, headache, open wound, ingrown mail pain, detached nail, difficulty of breathing, contusion, sprain, and sore throat.
At least eight devotees reported major concerns like dizziness with blurry vision, nausea, body weakness, and difficulty of breathing.
Meanwhile, 150 devotees had their vital signs checked.
MMDA account
Earlier, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said three people were given medical attention after they got wounded during the Traslacion.
Some of the devotees got injured while trying to climb the andas or the carriage that bears the image of Jesus Nazareno.
According to MMDA, the first patient had a cut on his right foot along Katigbak Drive. He was endorsed to the station of the Department of Health (DOH) in Quirino Grandstand to have his wound stitched up.
The second patient was also injured along Katigbak Drive. He went home after getting the wounds on his leg cleaned.
“‘Yung isa pong may hiwa sa paa ang nagtangka umakyat. ‘Yung ikalawang may hiwa sa paa, lumapit sa andas pero ‘di nakaakyat dahil nasugatan na sa paa,” the MMDA told GMA News Online.
(One person had a cut on his foot while trying to climb the andas. The second patient had a cut on his foot, but was no longer able to climb the andas because of his injury.)
The right foot of the third patient, meanwhile, was cut along Finance Road. He was also brought to the DOH tent in Quirino Grandstand for medical assistance.
Devotees
As of 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., 91,800 devotees have been observed participating in the Traslacion, according to the Quiapo Church.
Meanwhile, 25,750 more devotees have been monitored at Quiapo Church and 1,500 at Rizal Park.
Devotees gathered at the Quirino Grandstand early Thursday morning for the Traslacion or procession of the image of Jesus Nazareno to its home at Quiapo Church.
