Tons of garbage collected around Metro Manila in post-New Year clean up
Local government units have begun to clean up tons of garbage left behind after New Year’s Eve celebrations on Wednesday morning.
According to a Balitanghali report by Bernadette Reyes on Wednesday, a total of four trucks of garbage were collected at a portion of Taft Avenue in Libertad, Pasay City just hours after the midnight countdown.
The closed part of the road was reopened at around 7:00 a.m.
Similar situations were observed along Recto Avenue in Manila and Rizal Avenue in Caloocan City.
In the retail district of Divisoria, tall piles of garbage consisting of vegetables and fruits towered above people.
To address the smelly situation, the Manila City Hall Department of Public Services conducted cleaning sanitation services starting early Wednesday.
Meanwhile, proper garbage disposal was observed during the New Year Countdown in Quezon City Circle, which paved the way to a faster clean-up.—Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
