More boga confiscated than pellet guns in QC
There are more boga (improvised cannons) confiscated than pellet guns this year in Barangay Old Balara, Quezon City, according to an official.
In Marisol Abdurahman’s exclusive report on 24 Oras on Monday, authorities seized boga and pellet guns from minors.
Some seized boga were made from tubes, tin cans, and plastic, which are dangerous since these can explode if filled with too much alcohol or gasoline.
Barangay officials expressed concern over the surge of confiscated boga in their area, unlike in previous years where children only played with pellet guns.
“Nagulat kami sa barangay na halos 1,000 percent ang itinaas ng nakumpiska naming boga ngayon kesa ]last year,” Barangay Old Blara chairman Allan Franza said.
(We did not expect that there would be almost a 1,000% increase in confiscated boga compared to last year.)
"Dati, nakakaconfiscate tayo ng boga bago mag bagong taon, ito wala pang pasko, unang linggo palang ng December, marami na tayong nakukuhang boga,” he added.
(Before, we would confiscate boga before the New Year but now, even before Christmas, on the first week of December, we have already seized boga.)
Barangay officials once again reminded parents and guardians in their area to strictly monitor their children.
Some pellet guns sold in stalls were also confiscated since these are prohibited.
The barangay said they will continue their operations to ensure a safe New Year celebration in their area. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrted News
