Caloocan gov’t urges barangays to set up firework zones

Caloocan Mayor Along Malapitan on Friday called on barangays to set up firework display zones

Caloocan Mayor Along Malapitan on Friday called on barangays to set up firework display zones to ensure safety in welcoming the new year.

Under Executive Order No. 040-24, Malapitan said barangays must inform the local government of the details of the firework zone, such as the address, date, and time of the fireworks display, and the safety and security protocols that will be implemented.

The information must be submitted to the Office of the City Administrator three days before the display area will be used.

Meanwhile, Malapitan reminded that loud fireworks such as the baby rocket, trianggulo, whistle bomb, El Diablo, Judas' belt, boga, and others are prohibited.

“Gumamit po tayo ng mga ligtas na alternatibong pamamaraan gaya ng torotot, kaldero, speaker, light emitting devices, at iba pa upang mag-ingay at magpa-ilaw sa bagong taon,” he said in a statement.

According to Malapitan, the local government also tasked the Caloocan City Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection-Caloocan, and the City Health Department to implement the ordinance.

The Makati City government, meanwhile, announced that a portion of Ayala Avenue will be closed from December 27 until December 30 for the New Year’s Eve countdown on December 31, Tuesday.

According to the LGU, the gates and food booths will be opened starting at noon, while the concert proper will start at 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, from December 31 to January 2, a portion of the Ayala Avenue and the Paseo de Roxas will also be closed.
