LTO district head questioned over registration of truck involved in fatal Parañaque accident

A district head of the National Capital Region - Land Transportation Office (LTO-NCR) is being questioned regarding the registration of the truck that was involved in a fatal road accident at Skyway At-Grade, Parañaque last December 6.

According to a statement from the LTO on Wednesday, the official was told to explain what the agency has described as the “fraudulent” registration and why he should not receive administrative action for violating the 2017 Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service (RACCS).

The district head is required to respond within five days of the letter’s receipt.

“Failure on your part to submit the required explanation within a specified period shall be construed as a waiver on your part to controvert the issues raised against you and the case shall be decided on the basis of evidence at hand,” the LTO said.

“We want to have a clear explanation from the LTO officer involved, under the concept of command responsibility, as to why the truck was able to register without the necessary road worthiness inspection,” said LTO Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II.

The said truck reportedly lost control after losing its brakes along the southbound lane of Skyway that resulted in a six-car pile-up. One person died as a result of the accident. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
