Part of Tomas Morato Ave. in QC now car-less on Sunday mornings


A portion of Tomas Morato Avenue in Quezon City will be car-less for a few hours on Sunday mornings, according to the local government unit.

From 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sundays, Tomas Morato Avenue from the corner of Timog Avenue to the corner of Don Alejandro Roces Avenue will be closed to motorists starting Dec. 8, the launch of the LGU's Car-free, Carefree Tomas Morato Sundays.

The following roads will also be closed during those hours on Sundays:

  • Sct. Tuason / Sct. Limbaga
  • Sct. Tuason / Sct. Fuentebela
  • Sct. Tuason / Sct. De Guia
  • Sct. Tuason / Dr. Lazcano
  • Sct. Tuason / Sct. Lozano
  • Sct. Torillo / Sct. Rallos
  • Sct. Torillo / Sct. Fernandez
  • Sct. Torillo / Sct. Gandia
  • Sct. Torillo / Sct. De Guia
  • Sct. Tuason / Dr. Lazcano
  • Sct. Tuason / Sct. Delgado
  • Sct. Tuason / Sct. Castor
  • Sct. Delgado / Sct. Torillo
  • Sct. Torillo / Sct. Castor

 

Motorists were advised to take note of parking areas and rerouting scheme to be implemented by the Traffic and Transport Management Department of the LGU.

 

The car-free scheme is implemented in compliance with a city ordinance which calls for active mobility and safety of the city's residents.

A similar car-free scheme is being implemented on Roxas Boulevard in Manila, from Padre Burgos Avenue to Quirino Avenue, every Sunday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. to allow people to walk, jog, bike, and do all sorts of exercise. —KG, GMA Integrated News
