Two 'makers' of fake LTO documents nabbed in QC

Two individuals tagged in the alleged manufacture of fake motor vehicle documents were arrested in Quezon City, where they allegedly ran their operation near the central office of the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

According to a statement by the LTO on Saturday, a 54-year-old man and his alleged 36-year-old female accomplice were arrested by its agents and the Quezon City Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (QC CIDG) in an entrapment operation on Friday, Nov. 15.

They were collared while allegedly engaged in the illegal activity at the first floor of the Prima Building, East Avenue corner Magalang Street, Barangay Piñahan.

Falsified official receipts/ certificates of registration, a laptop, a printer, and a mobile phone were recovered, along with the marked money used by authorities.

The LTO said it received information that the arrested male ran the operation near the LTO Central Office. The agency later confirmed this after sending an individual who posed as a client to deal with him.

"During the investigation of the CIDG, it was found out that the suspects were members of the Cris Falsification Group involved in fabrication and selling of falsified private and public documents specifically LTO Driver's License and Official Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR) rampantly operating on the area of Quezon City," the LTO said in a statement.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said, "Let this serve as a warning against fixers and other people making easy money using LTO documents, and even those manufacturing and selling fake license plates, that we will not stop until you are all brought to jail."

The two are currently in the custody of the QC CIDG at Camp Karingal and are facing criminal charges. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
