Emergency rooms in some QC hospitals at full capacity
Emergency rooms in some hospitals in Quezon City have reached full capacity, with the private hospital organization attributing the increasing number of patients to the changing weather.
According to a ''State of the Nation'' report on Friday, the East Avenue Medical Center's emergency room is currently handling 154 patients, above its 150-person capacity.
Its intensive care unit was also reported to be operating at full capacity.
Patients were seen resting in the hallways or on wheelchairs while waiting for available private rooms.
Similar situations were reported in a nearby private hospital.
According to the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines, the rise in the number of patients could be attributed to the changing weather conditions and the recent tropical cyclone Kristine.
Most patients were admitted due to stroke, pneumonia, leptospirosis, and dengue. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
