1 dead, 2 injured in Pasay residential area fire

An unidentified man was killed while two others were injured in a fire that hit a residential area in Pasay City before noon Monday.

The body of the victim was found under the debris after the fire, according to a report by Chino Gaston in “24 Oras.”

It was not yet clear if it was the remains of a 20-year-old man earlier reported missing.

Ayun na po ang huli naming pagkikita,” said Jenny Rose Seledonio, sister of the missing person.

(At early morning, he told me that he needs to go back and go to sleep. That was our last encounter with each other.)

Fifteen houses were razed by the fire while 40 families lost their homes, the report added.

The Bureau of Fire Protection said the blaze started at 11:45 a.m. and reached third alarm at 12:12 p.m. It was declared under control at 1:10 p.m.

Meanwhile, the wake of a 49-year-old man was affected by the fire. Rescuers failed to save the remains of the man, according to the report of Super Radyo dzBB's Sam Nielsen.

(There’s a wake there. But due to the quick spread of the fire, we were not able to get the dead body…The fire was really huge.)

(The fire started from the second floor. We just saw smoke coming out. We were not able to save the house appliances and furniture. We focused on rescuing all the elderly in the community.)

Savares said that they have yet to account for the number of residents affected by the fire.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/AOL, GMA Integrated News
