Manila announces road closures, rerouting in North and South Cemeteries
Several roads leading to North Cemetery in Manila and South Cemetery in Makati will be closed starting Wednesday, October 30, until Sunday, November 3, for the observance of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
In an advisory, the Manila City government said vehicles will not be allowed to enter the following roads from 12:01 a.m., October 30, until 7 p.m., November 3:
- Stretch of Aurora Blvd. from Dimasalang Rd. to Rizal Ave.
- Stretch of Blumentritt Rd. from A. Bonifacio Rd. to P. Guevarra St.
- Stretch of Retiro St. from Dimasalang Rd. to Blumentritt Ext.
- Stretch of Maceda St. from Makiling St. to Dimasalang Rd.
- Stretch of Dimasalang Rd. from Makiling St. to Blumentritt Rd.
- Stretch of P. Guevarra St. from Cavite St. to Aurora Blvd.
Those going to La Loma and Chinese Cemeteries are advised to take the stretch of Rizal Ave. or J. Abad Santos Ave. as their point of entrance or exit and vice versa.
Motorists coming from Blumentritt shall turn left or right to Cavite St. then turn right to Leonor Rivera to point of destination.
Trailer trucks and other heavy vehicles coming from A.H. Lacson Ave. going to Dimasalang Rd., should go straight to Yuseco St. to point of destination and vice versa.
All vehicles coming from Dimasalang Rd. intending to utilize Blumentritt Rd. shall turn right to Makiling St., straight to Blumentritt Ext. to point of destination.
Those going to Manila North Cemetery with vehicles can use the following temporary parking areas:
- P. Guevarra St. from Blumentritt Rd. to Aurora Blvd.
- F Huertas St. from Blumentritt Rd. to Aurora Blvd.
- Oroquieta St. from Blumentritt Rd. to Aurora Blvd.
- Simoun St. from Dimasalang Rd. to Blumentritt St.
On the other hand, the following roads near the Manila South Cemetery will be closed from 12:01 a.m., October 31 until 12 midnight, November 2.
- Kalayaan Avenue – Section from Zapote Street to N. Garcia Street will be closed to traffic and designated for pedestrian use only.
- South Avenue – Section from J.P. Avenue to Metropolitan Avenue will be closed to traffic and designated for pedestrian use only.
- Vito Cruz Avenue Extension – Section from South Avenue to Zapote Street will be closed to traffic and designated for pedestrian use only.
- Pililla Street – Section from Kalayaan Avenue to Baler Street will be closed to traffic and designated for pedestrian use, with access only to designated parking areas.
The public should follow the road rerouting plan prepared by the city government of Makati.
- J.P. Rizal Avenue – From Makati Avenue to Pasong Tirad Street, temporarily converted to two-way traffic flow.
- Zapote Street – From J.P. Rizal Avenue to Metropolitan Avenue, temporarily converted to two-way traffic flow.
- Vito Cruz Avenue Extension – From Pasong Tamo Avenue to Zapote Street, converted to one-way eastward towards South Cemetery. One side of Vito Cruz Extension (north side curb) will be designated as a parking area.
- Metropolitan Avenue – From South Avenue to N. Garcia Street, converted to one-way traffic. One side of Metropolitan Avenue (north side curb) will be designated as a parking area.
Motorists can park their vehicles in the following designated areas:
- Kalayaan Avenue 1 – From N. Garcia Street to Pililla Street (north side curb)
- Kalayaan Avenue 2 – From N. Garcia Street to F. Zobel Street (north side curb)
- Candelaria Street – From N. Garcia Street to Pililla Street (south side curb)
- Metropolitan Avenue – From South Avenue to SM Jazz Mall access road or Jupiter Street (north side curb)
- Ecoville Road/Meralco Frontage – West side curb beside the tricycle terminal
The other possible parking areas are:
- Baler Street and Milagros Street – From N. Garcia Street to Pililla Street (access via N. Garcia Street and Pililla Street)
- M. Unidos Street and Visita Street – From Yague Street to Vito Cruz Extension (access via Zapote Street and Kakarong Street)
- Panama Street and Suez Street – From Zapote Street to Kakarong Street (access via Zapote Street and Kakarong Street)
