Water level at Marikina River still at normal level amid Kristine

The water level at Marikina River remained at a normal level on Wednesday morning amid the rains brought by Tropical Storm Kristine, the Marikina public information office said.

As of 7 a.m., the Marikina PIO said that the water level at Marikina River was at 12.9 meters. The river has an indicator of a “normal level” if the water level is at 14.9 meters and below.

A first alarm will be raised if the water level goes to as high as 15 meters, second alarm if 16 meters, and third alarm if 18 meters.

Meanwhile, all gates were open at the Manggahan Floodway.

The water level at Marikina River reached 13.5 meters as of 3 a.m., according to an Unang Balita report by EJ Gomez.

Despite this, no flooding was monitored in nearby areas.

Some barangay personnel were patrolling early in the morning to monitor the situation in communities.

“Wala naman akong nadaanan [na baha]. Mahina naman ang ulan pabugso bugso lang,” said Ramiro Rodriguez Sr., Barangay Kalumpang tanod.

(I didn’t pass through any floods. The rain was only light and intermittent.)
