Fire hits Manila hospital's stock room

Fire broke out in a hospital in Sampaloc, Manila on Tuesday morning, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The blaze in Mary Chiles Hospital and Maternity started at 6:48 a.m. and reached the second alarm at 7:01 a.m.

A total of 13 fire trucks and one ambulance responded to the area, according to the BFP.

A report by Manny Vargas on Super Radyo dzBB quoted BFP Manila personnel as saying that the affected infrastructure was a stock room, which is a separate building from the hospital where patients are admitted.

Nevertheless, several patients, including some who were on wheelchairs, were evacuated from the hospital.

In an update, the BFP said the fire was declared out at 7:20 a.m.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and the cost of its damage. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA Integrated News
