Heavy traffic on Commonwealth Ave. due to gravel on road

Motorists faced heavy traffic in a portion of the westbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Tuesday morning due to scattered gravel on the road.

Gravel and sand reportedly fell from a passing truck.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said some motorcycles fell over due to the scattered gravel and slippery road near the Philcoa area, Super Radyo dzBB’s Christian Maño reported.

Due to this, the traffic was temporarily paused. Many motorists were stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic and commuters were stranded.

According to a traffic enforcer, the heavy traffic was observed as early as 5 a.m. starting from the Philcoa area near Elliptical Road. The tail end of the traffic has reached the Tandang Sora intersection.

Bureau of Fire Protection personnel responded to conduct flushing and clear the affected road. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA Integrated News
