‘BIGGER THAN PITX’

GSIS commits QC property for intermodal transport hub

GSIS commits QC property for intermodal transport hub

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has committed the use of its 3-hectare property in Quezon City as the site of a modern intermodal transport hub set to be bigger than the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).

Dubbed as Project Hub, the facility will be located at the corner of the elliptical road and Commonwealth Avenue. It will be next to the PhilCoa Station of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT7).

“Our property in Quezon City is centrally located and accessible, positioned in a location that maximizes connectivity with the city and surrounding regions,” GSIS president and general manager Jose Arnulfo “Wick” Veloso said in an emailed statement.

“The end view of the Project Hub is a world-class intermodal transport hub that is a well-organized, modern facility that streamlines the bus travel experience, focusing on efficiency, passenger comfort, and seamless connectivity with other transport modes including the MRT7,” he added.

The GSIS said the Department of Transportation (DOTr) will lead the studies and preparatory designs for the project. No further details were released.

This comes following a Presidential Directive to develop an intermodal rail-city bus terminal and depot in Quezon City.

The GSIS said it, along with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Quezon City government, plans to prepare some 300 temporary parking slots on the site while waiting for the permanent development to start.

“Through the Board of Trustees approval and guidance, the GSIS will continue to support the Project Hub which has a pivotal role to serve them better,” Veloso said. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
