Chinese shot dead; business, love triangle motives eyed
A Chinese was shot dead on Thursday by a fellow Chinese inside a hotpot restaurant in Makati City.
According to Mariz Umalis’ report in “24 Oras” on Friday, the 29-year-old victim was with a group of people as seen in the CCTV footage. One of his companions suddenly stood up and shot him four times hitting his hand, arm, and chest.
The victim was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. An autopsy will be conducted.
Authorities said the victim was speaking with the suspect regarding business matters.
“There was a misunderstanding between the two. The suspect got annoyed with the victim, whom he first met on Telegram to discuss about corn and rice supplies….We are looking at the angle that this could be business-related or due to love triangle,” said Makati City Police Public Information Office chief Police Captain Jenibeth Artista in Filipino.
Seized from the crime scene were eight bullet cases, two metal jackets and five bullets.
The police are still investigating if the shooting was premeditated, which would warrant the charge of murder case against the still unidentified suspect.
The Makati City Police said the manhunt operation on the Chinese suspect is ongoing.
The police are also coordinating with the Land Transportation Office to trace the owner of the vehicle that the suspect used to escape. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BAP, GMA Integrated News
