Mandaluyong City Vice Mayor Menchie Abalos on Tuesday filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor in the 2025 elections, according to Super Radyo dzBB.

Menchie is hoping to replace her father-in-law, Benjamin Abalos.

The vice mayor is the wife of Benhur Abalos who stepped down as secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government to run for senator.

Meanwhile, Councilor Anthony Suva filed his COC for vice mayor.

A total of 18,280 elective posts will be up for grabs for Eleksyon 2025. The filing of COCs has started on October 1 and is set to close on Tuesday. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
