The race for those vying to lead each of the 16 cities and 1 municipality in the National Capital Region has officially begun, with some aspirants for mayor and vice mayor formalizing their bids as early as October 1. 

Here’s the running list of individuals who have so far filed their certificate of candidacy (COC) for Metro Manila’s top government posts in the 2025 midterm elections as of October 13, 2024 (3:25 p.m.):

    The COC filing for the 2025 national and local elections started on October 1 and will run until next week, October 8.

    According to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), a total of 18,280 seats, covering 14 posts in 254 legislative districts, will be up for grabs.

    For the elections for local positions, the number of available seats up for grabs are as follows:

    • Governor — 82
    • Vice Governor — 82
    • Member, Sangguniang Panlalawigan — 800
    • City Mayor — 149
    • City Vice Mayor — 149
    • Member, Sangguniang Panlungsod — 1,690
    • Municipal Mayor — 1,493
    • Municipal Vice Mayor — 1,493
    • Member, Sangguniang Bayan — 11,948
    • BARMM Members of the Parliament — 25
    • BARMM Party Representatives — 40
