Police arrest suspected serial rapist

A man suspected to rape about 10 women then using his victims' social media account to blackmail them has been arrested by personnel from the Manila Police District (MPD), according to a "24 Oras" report by Jonathan Andal on Wednesday.

The suspect allegedly lured his victims by offering them a job through the stolen Facebook account of a woman.

“Ang revelation niya is at least 10 or running to 15 na ang kanyang mga nabibiktima na babae,” said MPD Director Police Brigadier General Arnold Ibay.

(His revelation is that he has victimized at least 10 running to 15 women.)

He would tell his victims to meet him at a hotel room. He made them believe that a female recruiter was waiting. He would also offer them what seemed to be spiked softdrinks.

Once the victim was drugged and vulnerable, he would rape and record her.

“Pagkainom ko po noon, mga ilang minutes lang parang wala na ako sa sarili. Lahat po ng gusto niya ginagawa ko na po. Nag-uutos po siya na hubarin ko raw po yung suot ko, habang hawak niya po yung cellphone ko,” said a victim.

(After taking the drink, after several minute I felt like I was not myself. I did everything that he wanted me to do. He ordered me to remove what I was wearing while he held my cell phone.)

“Lahat po ng gamit ko tangay. As in damit lang, lumabas po ako ng hotel… Nag-complain ako [sa front desk], bakit kako pinalabas yung tao na yun,” added another victim.

(He took all my things. I left the hotel with just my clothes… I complained [to the front desk], I said why would they let him out.)

After the rape, the suspect would allegedly hack the victims’ social media through their stolen phones to send their explicit images and videos to their relatives and friends in exchange for money.

“Sinira kasi niya yung pamilya ko, yung asawa ko hindi na ako kinokontak. Yung asawa ko talaga, akala lalaki ko yung tao na yun. Talagang sinira niya yung buhay ko!” said a victim.

(He destroyed my family, my husband wouldn’t get in touch with me anymore. My husband really thought (the suspect) was my lover. He really ruined my life!)

“Nakita po ng magulang ko yung mga pictures, atsaka nung mga kaibigan ko. Sa akin pa lang po, sobrang sakit na po nun eh… lalo na po minor ako,” added a 17-year-old victim.

(My parents saw the pictures, and my friends too. Even with just me, it is painful… especially since I’m just a minor.)

During the suspect’s arrest at the Philippine General Hospital, the police were also able to recover what seemed to be "trophies" from his victims as authorities recovered powder and make-up that he stole from them.

In an interview, the suspect denied the allegation of rape.

“May kasalanan man po tayo, pero walang panggagahasa. Pagnanakaw siguro, pero wala pong panggagahasa,” he said.

(If indeed I committed a crime, but there was no rape. Robbery, maybe, but there was no rape.)

There are currently seven warrants of arrest filed against the suspect for previous charges related to drugs, robbery, rape, and child abuse.

Meanwhile, a man lodged a complaint against a suspect for allegedly hacking his digital wallet and using it for extortion.

“Kasi po nasa Buy & Sell ako eh. Malay mo po may mga ka-transaction siya na ma-scam niya tas malalaking tao… Mamaya ako po yung balikan,” said the victim.

(Because I am in the Buy & Sell business. You'll never know if he has transacted or scammed bigger people… They might blame me.) — Jiselle Anne Casucian/BAP, GMA Integrated News
