La Mesa Dam overflows anew on Thursday

The water level of La Mesa Dam in Quezon City on Thursday exceeded the spilling level due to continuous rains

The water level of La Mesa Dam in Quezon City on Thursday exceeded the spilling level due to the continuous rains brought by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

As of 1 p.m., the state weather bureau PAGASA said that the water reservoir’s level reached 80.16 meters or 0.01 meter above its spilling level.

PAGASA advised the public that the overflowing of La Mesa Dam may affect  low-lying areas along Tullahan River in Quezon City (Fairview, Forest Hills Subdivision, Quirino Highway, Sta. Quiteria, and San Bartolome), Valenzuela (North Expressway, La Huerta Subdivision), and Malabon.

Residents living in the said areas are highly advised to take precautionary measures, the state weather bureau added.

Although Severe Tropical Storm Enteng has exited the country on Wednesday, PAGASA said that the enhanced Habagat will also bring moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon until Saturday. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
