12 MRT-7 stations will be up and running by late 2025, says DOTr

Twelve stations of the MRT-7 in Quezon City should be "up and running" by the fourth quarter of 2025, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Wednesday.

In a statement, Transportation Undersecretary Jeremy Regino said the stations from North Avenue Station to Quirino Station shall have partial operations by late 2025.

The other two stations are Tala Station, set to be operational by 2026; and San Jose Station.

“‘Yung San Jose Station ang best case scenario po natin is 2027. We’ll extend to 2028 on a worst-case scenario,” Regino said.

The MRT-7's 22-kilometer stretch will have 14 stations: Quezon North Avenue Joint Station, Quezon Memorial Circle, University Avenue, Tandang Sora, Don Antonio, Batasan, Manggahan, Doña Carmen, Regalado, Mindanao Avenue, Quirino, Sacred Heart, Tala, and San Jose del Monte.

Once in full operation, the MRT-7 is expected to reduce travel time from Quezon City to San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan in just 35 minutes.

The railway system is expected to carry 300,000 passengers in its inaugural year of operation.

DOTr said the MRT-7 reached an overall progress rate of 69.86% as of April 2024. — Sherylin Untalan/BM, GMA Integrated News
