Habagat causes waist-deep floods in parts of Metro Manila


Habagat brought heavy rains and caused up waist-deep floods in some parts of Metro Manila on Wednesday morning.

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat brought heavy rains and caused up waist-deep floods in some parts of Metro Manila on Wednesday morning.

In its flood alerts, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said floods were reported in the following areas:

  • Calamba Sto. Domingo Biak Na Bato - waist-deep, not passable to all types of vehicles as of 6:53 a.m.
  • Andrew Tramo northbound - gutter-deep, passable to all types of vehicles as of 6:53 a.m.
  • EDSA Shaw tunnel northbound - gutter-deep, passable to all types of vehicles as of 6:50 a.m.
  • Araneta Avenue- Maria Clara Street - not passable to light vehicles, as of 6:30 a.m.
  • Commonwealth Avenue after Philcoa eastbound - gutter deep, passable to all types of vehicles as of 6:30 a.m.
  • E. Rodriguez Araneta - knee-deep, not passable to light vehicles as of 6:30 a.m.

 

 

The Malabon City government as of 5 a.m. said floods were reported in the following barangays:

Acacia

  • Gov. Pascual Ma.Clara - 6 to 8 inches

Catmon

  • Gov. Pascual Sitio 6 - 10 to 12 inches

Dampalit

  • M. Sioson St. - 6 to 8 inches

Hulong Duhat

  • Gen. Luna Gen Trias St. - 2 to 3 inches
  • Don Basilio Women's Club - 1 to 2 inches
  • Don Basilio Bautista Gabriel - 3 to 4 inches
  • Naval/Women's Club - 1 to 2 inches

Ibaba

  • C.Arellano -  2 to 3 inches 

Maysilo

  • MH Del Pilar San Vicente - 8 to 10 inches

Panghulo

  • Panghulo Rd Bautista St.  - 5 to 6 inches
  • Rodriguez St Gregory - 1 to 2 inches
  • Silverswan - 3 to 4 inches
  • Rodriguez Arkong Bato -  2 to 3 inches

Classes in public schools and work in government agencies were suspended in the National Capital Region on Wednesday due to the inclement weather.
