‘Dirty tactics won’t work in Pasig,’ LGU says amid complaints filed vs Vico Sotto

Amid the complaints and a temporary restraining order (TRO) filed against Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, its local government on Sunday said its residents will be able to discern through the issues.

“Mahirap ang kalaban na may bilyones, galit sa mga reporma, at handang magbayad ng proxies, Facebook trolls, former at incumbent officials, etc. Pero hindi na basta-basta gumagana ang old traditional politics at dirty tactics sa Pasig. The people will see right through it,” the Pasig City Public Information told GMA News Online.

(It is difficult to fight against enemies with billions, those who are against reforms, and those who are ready to pay proxies, Facebook trolls, former and incumbent officials, etc. But the old traditional politics and dirty tactics no longer work in Pasig. The people will see right through it.)

However, the Pasig PIO did not give further details on who it was referring to.

The department also said the camp of Sotto has yet to receive the graft complaint filed with the Office of the Ombudsman.

The 28-page complaint alleged Sotto and three other city officials of distributing t-shirts to Pasig City Hall employees, instead of the P1,500  allowance for the 451st “Araw ng Pasig."

“It's easy to have a complaint received and then sensationalize it by bringing the "received" copy to the media,” the statement further read.

Meanwhile, the applications for TRO and preliminary injunction have been denied by the Regional Trial Court, the Pasig PIO said.

A 39-page petition was filed on August 19, seeking a TRO against the construction of a new Pasig city hall.

Another complaint was filed against Sotto over the alleged illegal grant of discount to telecommunications provider  Converge.

In response to the first complaint, Sotto said the filing of complaints against him is part of the dirty tactics of some political groups. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
