Apprehended rider rains punches, kicks on traffic enforcer

A motorcycle rider was arrested after he threw punches and kicks at a traffic enforcer who reprimanded him for violating traffic rules in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

In Nico Waje's exclusive report on 24 Oras on Wednesday, the CCTV caught the incident on Tuesday afternoon.

In a separate video, the rider was caught kicking the traffic enforcer, which led him to lose his balance.

(Children were crossing the street when I saw the motorcycle approaching so I signaled him to stop, but the rider just continued driving.)

The rider did not stop even though the traffic enforcer shouted to get his attention, but he was halted by other enforcers.

Unang-una may tumatawid at dini-disregard niya ako.

(I informed him of his violations.that he kept on driving even though there were people crossing the street and he disregarded me. The rider got angry. He said I could not be reasoned with, that I was rude. He was rushing me to return his license and the ticket I was issuing.)

After he got his license back, the rider physically attacked the traffic enforcer.

(He punched me on my left cheek. He rained punches on me so I wasn’t able to avoid him yet he was still not satisfied and swung a round kick. Something hit my chest and my back hurts due to the impact.)

“Nakaresponde naman po ang ating mga kapulisan dito sa substation 3 ng Alabang at naaresto ang suspek natin,” said Police Captain Fernando Niefes, chief of the Muntinlupa Police Investigation and Detective Management Section.

(Our police at Substation 3 in Alabang were able to respond and catch the suspect.)

The detained rider said he regretted his actions. He added that he was in a hurry to go home in Quezon City.

“Inaamin ko po yung pagkakamali ko. Dala lang po ng problema kaya po madaling uminit yung ulo ko,” the suspect said.

(I admit my wrongdoing. I was in a bad mood due to my problems.)

“Law enforcer ‘yan ay person in authority pagdating sa kalsada dapat sumusunod, nag-o-obey. Yung ganun na nakipagpisikalan pa, we will not tolerate it,” Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon said.

(They are law enforcers on the streets so we should follow and obey them. We will not tolerate those who engage in fights with our traffic enforcers.)
