Man arrested over child porn in Manila

A 54-year-old man was arrested in Manila for producing, possessing, and selling videos of children being sexually abused, the Philippine National Police-Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the PNP-ACG said authorities implemented a warrant to search, seize, and examine computer data (WSSECD) issued by Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 29 against the suspect on Monday.

The operation was conducted following a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) based on images intercepted on social media platforms.

PNP-ACG’s Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Unit (WCCPU) launched an online probe and cyberpatrol leading to the discovery of the suspect’s online accounts where he sells child porn.

The WCCPU worked on identifying the victims and their locations so authorities could help them obtain justice.

A 15-year-old victim-survivor, "Nick", said the suspect actively messaged him on Facebook and enticed him to engage in sexual activity for P300.

The minor turned down the offer several times but he eventually agreed due to the suspect’s persistence and poverty, the PNP-ACG said.

For the ACG, the suspect may have lured, exploited, and abused more child victims.

“We can help you. Let us help you obtain justice for whatever abuse you may have experienced. Alternatively, we can help remove your compromising videos. Mag-report kayo sa (Please report to) AlengPulis Cybersquad,” PNP-ACG chief Police Brigadier General Ronnie Cariaga said.

The suspect is now facing charges for violation of the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act in relation to Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA Integrated News
