Pangarap Village bars non-resident teachers of schools inside subdivision

A new policy of the Pangarap Village in Caloocan City prohibits teachers from entering the school inside the subdivision if they are non-residents.

According to a "24 Oras" report by Mariz Umali, non-resident teachers need to be accompanied by a barangay official to get to the Pangarap National High School and the Pangarap Elementary School, which is inside the village.

Almost 3,000 students are studying in the school. With the new policy, close to a thousand face losing a school.

(There are other schools they can go to. Some of them can go to Bulacan while those living in Caloocan can go to a nearby school. Besides that, the school is not that big to accommodate a large volume of enrollees. The students will suffer if we accommodate them all since we do not have Meralco and Maynilad. We are relying on solar power.)

The residents of the village have been in a land dispute with the land developer, who previously said they have a ruling in the Supreme Court.

GMA Integrated News tried to seek comment from the Pangarap Village.

In a social media post, the Department of Education (DEpEd) - Caloocan said the Pangrap Elementary School and Pangarap High School will continue to bring quality education to its students residing in the village.

It added that it had submitted all necessary documents and reports of the two schools.
