Rescued mother gives birth amid onslaught of Carina-enhanced habagat in QC

Emergency responders rescued a mother who gave birth at the height of the the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina and Habagat in Quezon City, Ivan Mayrina reported Wednesday on "Saksi."

Rescuers took some hours before they rescued the 18-year-old mother as they needed to place her on a spine board.

She and her son are safe and were brought to the hospital for medical care.

Meanwhile, some residents along Araneta Avenue said the flood brought by the heavy rain is probably the worst flood they have experienced.

The flood has reached 15 feet, which caused the Skyway North ramp to be closed.

The power in the area was also cut off as some houses were submerged in the flood.

Meanwhile, some residents of Barangay Bagong Silangan evacuated with their pets while others walked through the waist-level flood while carrying their belongings.

A disaster responder said many of the residents have already evacuated as they alerted them yesterday, but there is still a need for rescuers to help evacuate the people.

PAGASA said the Carina-enhanced Habagat will continue to bring moderate to intense rains over western Luzon.  — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
