Missing passengers rescued after boat capsizes in Marikina
Rescuers launched a search and rescue mission to look for fellow rescuers and flood victims who were on board a rescue boat that capsized in Barangay Santo Niño, Marikina on Wednesday.
According to a dzBB report by Sam Nielsen, emergency responders were conducting a search and rescue mission before it capsized.
While it was not known how many individuals were onboard, rescue teams found two individuals from the boat, one of which was a fellow rescuer.
They were also able to retrieve a helmet of a rescue volunteer from the water.
Rescue volunteers have prepared a rubber boat to search for more passengers of the capsized boat.
The Marikina Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office later confirmed that there were 14 passengers, 8 of which were residents rescued from the flood.
A "State of the Nation" report by Bea Pinlac on Wednesday said that as of 8 p.m., all passengers have been located and rescued.
The rescue boat reportedly capsized after the boat hit the post of a street sign submerged in floodwater.
