PAF rescues over 100 Pasay residents affected by Super Typhoon Carina

The Philippine Air Force conducted rescue operations for 100 residents of Pasay City  on Wednesday amid floods caused by Super Typhoon Carina and the Southwest Monsoon.

According to a statement, the 505th Search and Rescue Group was able to rescue and evacuate over flood-stricken residents of Barangay 183.

“The PAF remains on alert, ready to deploy additional resources as needed, and urges the public to stay vigilant and follow safety advisories,” the statement read.

A report on Unang Balita stated that leg-deep floods were already seen in other parts of Pasay, such as Cartimar and Rotonda.

Floods also caused many vehicles to break down in the middle of the road, while a report by Bea Panlac showed items from Libertad Market being swept away by floodwater.

The National Capital Region has been placed under a state of calamity due to massive floods affecting residents in several areas of Metro Manila.

According to PAGASA’s 5 a.m. cyclone bulletin, Carina further intensified as it makes its way towards Taiwan.

Due to an enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, Metro Manila is experiencing heavy rains and strong to gale-force gusts.

Super Typhoon Carina is predicted to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/RF, GMA Integrated News
