Ateneo campus open to faculty, students for evacuation amid flooding

The Ateneo de Manila University on Wednesday said that its Loyola Heights campus is open to faculty, staff, students, and their families who may need to evacuate due to flooding brought by Typhoon Carina.

“Stay safe, everyone,” Ateneo said in a post on Facebook.

Earlier, PAGASA announced that Signal No. 2 was raised over the Babuyan Islands, the northern portion of mainland Cagayan and the northern portion of Ilocos while Signal No. 1 was raised over Batanes.

Due to this, Malacañang has suspended government work and classes in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the day.

Many local government units also cancelled classes for the day.

Meanwhile, the Marikina River water level rose to second alarm.

For his part, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. tasked concerned agencies to provide aid to those affected by Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat. — Joaha Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
