PUP freshman enrollment on July 24, 2024 moved due to inclement weather

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) on Tuesday announced the suspension of enrollment for freshmen students on Wednesday, July 24, due to inclement weather.

In an advisory, the PUP management said affected students will be rescheduled on Thursday, July 25.

“Due to inclement weather caused by typhoon Carina and the habagat, enrollment at PUP Sta. Mesa campus is suspended tomorrow, June 24,” the university management said.

“Those who didn’t make it today and tomorrow will be rescheduled on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Please note that enrollment schedules for the coming days will be moved forward by one day and now extended from August 3 to August 5, 2024,” it added.

Tropical Cyclone Carina and Habagat triggered serious rains across the country, causing flooding in various parts of Metro Manila on Tuesday.

Storm signal no. 1 was raised over Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands, the eastern portion of Isabela, the northern portion of Apayao, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte.

The center of the Carina was estimated based on all available data at 325 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.

It is moving northward at 20 kph while packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center, gustiness of up to 185 kph, and central pressure of 960 hPa.

The state weather bureau said the tropical cyclone is expected to make landfall over the northern portion of Taiwan between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility. —NB, GMA Integrated News
