MMDA launches hi-tech mobile command center for Marcos SONA 2024

MMDA launches hi-tech mobile command center for Marcos SONA 2024

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will deploy a high-tech Mobile Command Center (MCC) for the first time for the third State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

According to a statement on Monday, the MMDA said the MCC will assist in traffic management and public safety monitoring in the metropolis, and promote resilience in the face of natural disasters.

MMDA Acting Chairman Attorney Don Artes added that the MCC is linked with the MMDA Communications and Command Center, and is equipped with surveillance systems connected to a monitoring video wall.

"The MCC is equipped with state-of-the-art communications systems such as a portable command and dispatch system, multimode radio, and remote CCTVs and drone capabilities. It could be used for monitoring significant events like the President’s annual SONA, and during times of disasters and road emergencies," said Artes.

"Mayroong satellite internet service ang aming mobile command center. Sakaling ipag-utos ni Pangulong Marcos na ipadala ito sa probinsya, pwede itong dalhin at gamitin bilang mobile incident command post,” he added.

(The mobile command center has satellite internet service. In case President Marcos commands that this will be brought to the province, it can be bought and used as a mobile incident command post)

Marcos is to deliver his SONA before a joint session of Congress at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.

The MMDA MCC was unveiled at the Commonwealth corner Batasan/IBP Road in Quezon City in the presence of Philippine National Police chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil, NCR Police Office director Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., and Internal Audit Department Deputy Secretary General Jose Ma. Antonio Tuaño. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
